Hello, My name is Shola and I used to be a street boy. Before joining Dream Catchers, I was not going to school and I could not speak or understand English. I used to walk up and down the street. Rolling tires and looking for food to eat. I used to clean gutters and wash plate for food sellers so they can give me food. In the evening, I will hawk oranges.
Before I came to live with Aunty Seyi in our Dream Catchers Villa, I used to sleep in shops, churches and different places. Sometimes, in a tiny room with my family of 7.
When I first hear about Dream Catchers Dancing and Aunty Seyi, I did not used to go because I believe there was no money or food there for me. But I hear that she used to give people rice and different food so I started going for the dance. And truly she gave me food. Then she put me in school.
The first time I enter a classroom, I was 10 years old and I was very afraid because I did not know anything.
I was in class with small small children. I use to feel like old man in that class and I wanted to stop school. Every Day and Night, I used to cry and say ‘ I no know book’ but Aunty Seyi told me I can do it. Now, I can speak English; I can read and write in English and I can understand English.
I am also a great dancer and artist.
When I grow up, I want to become an artist, dancer, a musician and an engineer.
I don’t want to go back to the street again. Please support me.
